RARE Antique Old 19th Primitive American Folk Art Sailor Captain Weathervane
This is a seldomly seen and RARE Antique Old 19th c. Primitive American Folk Art Sailor Captain Weathervane, comprised of multiple sheets of iron riveted together and reinforced with iron straps. My research has indicated that these pieces were manufactured in Watertown, NY, and that this piece likely dates from the 1890's - 1920's. The captain figure wears a red knee-length coat (now faded to a Nantucket red color from weather exposure,) and holds a large periscope in his hands. Approximately 56 1/2 inches tall x 30 inches wide including stand. This piece was acquired in Los Angeles County, California, but likely originates from the Northeastern United States. Due to the size of this piece, S&H will be unavoidably high. If you like what you see, I encourage you to make an Offer. Please check out my other listings for more wonderful and unique artworks!
