RARE Antique Old Danish Impressionist Landscape Oil Painting HENRIK JESPERSEN

  
This is a gorgeous and finely rendered RARE Antique Old Danish Impressionist Landscape Oil Painting on canvas, be renowned early Danish School painter Henrik Jespersen 1853 - 1936. This work depicts a lovely Danish lakeside landscape scene, with delicately painted trees, lavender colored hills and wisps of blue and white clouds above.

Signed with the artist's monogram in the lower right corner: H. Approximately 20 3/4 x 30 1/4 inches. Good overall condition for 100+ years of age, with light edge wear and faint scuffing to the canvas. The verso of this painting reveals several old patch repairs, and there is some writing in Danish which is illegible to me please see photos. Acquired from the estate of an old Danish - American family in San Gabriel Valley, California.

He was very inspired by the artist Janus la Cour and was a pupil of Wilhelm Kyhn, and like them, he created a highly romantic mood in his oils. Jespersen was known especially for his detailed and romantic landscapes from the Alps and Zealand. Jespersen has received numerous art prizes and had his work exhibited in Denmark, Germany, Paris, Chicago, and Budapest.

Henrik Gamst Jespersen trained at the Royal Danish Academy in Copenhagen and was known for his fine landscapes depicting views from the Alps and Zealand. He received several prizes for his work and exhibited in Paris, Germany and Chicago.
