Late 1800s 1920, wearing a silk costume decorated with embroidered a dragon and flowers. The head of the doll is removable. During opera puppet shows, this made for easy wardrobe changes and character shifts. The face is delicately painted features.
Fully jointed arms and legs can be posed numerous ways. Thin bamboo poles could be inserted into the hole at the back of the doll. The tradition of Chinese puppetry originated during the Han Dynasty, and grew throughout the Tang, Song and Qing dynasties. The doll is antique or vintage and may show some discoloration, fading and minor wear.
